Chicago Public Schools
State's share of the teacher pension that schools are not charged for
$59.3 million
Exact amount: $59,314,005.00
FY2026 (July 2025–June 2026)
Our estimateMethod: remainder of the line. It matches the State's FY2026 share $363,094,000 (normal cost $346,838,000 + additional $16,256,000, CTPF valuation p.1) minus the $303,780,006 of teacher employer pension already charged to schools and programs (accounts A57105 + A57110), which is $59,313,994, within $11 of the remainder. Whole teacher pension chain ties: $1,160.594M (research/cps_deep.md section 1).
The State pays part of CPS teachers' pensions on CPS's behalf, and this part appears to be the matching cost in the budget (our reading of the numbers, not a CPS statement).
